The Bonnie Journal · Chapter One

Where the Bonnie Journey Began

Inside our very first Bonnie Boutique pop-up at Lakeside Village, Doncaster — the summer morning when a mother-and-daughter dream became real.

Bonnie Boutique’s First Pop-Up Lakeside Village, Doncaster Saturday 4 July 2026

There are days you know you will remember forever.

Not because everything went perfectly.

But because they quietly become the beginning of something much bigger than you ever imagined.

For Bonnie Boutique, that day was Saturday 4 July 2026.

Long before our first customer arrived, before the first compliment and before our very first sale, there was simply a dream shared between a mother and daughter.

A dream to create a boutique filled with carefully chosen fashion that women genuinely loved wearing.

A boutique that felt welcoming.

Personal.

And a little different.

01

Every Dream Starts Somewhere

On that Saturday morning, we packed the van, loaded every clothing rail, checked every hanger far more times than necessary and set off for Lakeside Village in Doncaster.

We had spent weeks choosing stock, preparing our displays and wondering what people would think when they saw Bonnie for the first time.

There was excitement, nerves and the unmistakable feeling that something important was about to begin.

We had no idea what the day would bring.

02

The First Time Bonnie Became Real

Until then, Bonnie had lived mostly in conversations.

Ideas scribbled down.

Buying trips.

Late evenings discussing collections.

Website updates.

Endless cups of tea while deciding which pieces belonged together.

Seeing everything displayed as a boutique for the very first time was something we will never forget.

Suddenly, Bonnie was not just an idea.

It was real.

“Our first pop-up was the moment Bonnie stopped being only a dream and became something people could see, touch and experience for themselves.”

03

Meeting Our First Customers

One of the biggest surprises was not simply how many people visited our stand.

It was how many stopped to chat.

Fashion has a wonderful way of bringing people together.

Women told us about holidays they were planning, weddings they were attending, cruises booked for later in the year, birthdays, garden parties and all the little occasions that make choosing a new outfit feel exciting.

Every conversation reminded us why we wanted to create Bonnie in the first place.

Helping someone discover an outfit they genuinely feel amazing wearing is a wonderful feeling.

04

More Than Selling Clothes

We quickly realised Bonnie was never going to be just another boutique.

It became about confidence.

Helping women try something they would not usually choose.

Finding colours that suited them.

Styling complete outfits.

Sharing honest opinions.

Celebrating when someone smiled after looking in the mirror.

Those moments are worth more than any sale.

05

What People Did Not See

Customers saw beautifully styled rails, elegant displays and smiling faces.

Behind the scenes looked a little different.

  • A very early alarm.
  • A van packed with stock, rails and display pieces.
  • Hangers checked and counted more than once.
  • Displays changed and rearranged throughout the day.
  • Lessons learned as we went.
  • Plenty of laughs when things did not quite go to plan.
  • Tired feet by the end of the day.
  • A very full van to pack all over again.

That is the reality of starting a small business.

And honestly, we loved every minute.

06

Looking Back

When we packed everything away that evening, we were exhausted.

Our feet hurt.

The van somehow seemed even fuller than when we arrived.

But during the journey home, there was one conversation we kept coming back to:

“When can we do this again?”

That single conversation led directly to our next pop-up in Castleford and opened the door to many more exciting plans for Bonnie.

Thank You, Doncaster

If you visited our very first pop-up, thank you.

Whether you bought something, stopped for a chat, complimented the stand or simply wished us luck, you will always have a place in Bonnie’s story.

Because you were there at the beginning.

This Was Chapter One

Every boutique has a story.

Some begin with huge shops and big budgets.

Ours began with a mother, a daughter, a van full of carefully chosen clothes and a belief that if we created something beautiful, people would come.

Looking back now, that first Saturday at Lakeside Village will always be one of our favourite memories.

It was the day Bonnie truly began.

And we are only just getting started.
